History

The seed of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish was a chapel built in Brgy. San Rafael, Rodriguez, Rizal, which was then part of the parish of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

Sunday masses and liturgical services began to be held regularly in the chapel in 2002, with the arrival of two religious priests in the presence of Rev. Fr. Percival Bacani, M.J. and Rev. Fr. Teofilo Lopez Jr., M.J. both members of the religious congregation Missionary of Jesus. Their evangelizing mission to the remotes sitio’s of the town – reaching the boundaries of Bulacan in the north and Antipolo in the east – bore fruit.

First in the creation of Quasi-Parish dedicated to St. Raphael the Archangel in March 2003, and eventually in its canonical erection as a district parish on December 12 of the same year, with Rev. Fr. Teofilo Santos Jr., M.J. as the first parish priest. This spurred the community to intensify its involvement in the support for the church. And, through the collective effort of the parishioners, led by the late former PPC President Virgilio Supan, a beautiful church was constructed as the seat of the parish.

On the term of Fr. Teo, two of the big chapels were erected and dedicated to Immaculate Conception located in Eastwood Greenview Subdivision and to San Isidro Labrador located in Eastwind/Centella Subdivision. The parish has a total number of 22 chapels located in different sitios of the parish jurisdiction.

In April 2007, the administration of the parish was turned over to the diocesan clergy, and the first diocesan priest was Rev. Fr. Jaime P. Padilla was appointed as 2nd parish priest.

In March 2011 the second diocesan priest was Rev. Fr. Virgilio C. Lachica Jr., he was appointed as 3rd parish priest until March 2017, during his term the third big chapel was erected and dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi located in Eastwood Residences/Greenbreeze Subdivision.

In March 2017, Rev. Fr. Noeh E. Elnar was appointed as 3rd diocesan priest and 4th parish priest until April 2019.

And in April 2019 up to present, Rev. Fr. Jeffrey M. Santos serves as the 4th diocesan priest and 5th parish priest. During his term, Fr. Jeff focused on community involvement and major renovation of the parish. It includes the renovation of the main altar, parish ceiling, parish patio, church facade, Bulwagang San Rafael, parish sacristy, parish grottos, comfort rooms, fish ponds and parish fences and gates. He also replaced the sound system and tv monitors inside the parish.

When pandemic came he introduced different online activities such as live streaming of online masses, online catechism and counseling, healing rosary, flores de mayo, etc. These evangelized the community through watching different social media platforms of the parish. He also provided the SOCOM booth that is used on all online activities and live streaming of all the masses.

In February 2022, Rev. Fr. Marc Anthony A. Ramos was appointed as 5th diocesan priest and 6th parish priest.
